I'm making silver nitrate to turn myself blue. I currently have it in solution. can I boil it off in a stainless steel pot or will the nitric acid eat my pot?

I'm assuming you dissolved some cutlery in nitric and want to recrystallize it to purify it
in which case, yes, it will contaminate it with iron and chromium

Do it in a cast iron pot instead so you don't get chromium poisoning. It will still be full of iron and it will taste awful but it won't be toxic.

ok so that's why my yield was so big? the pot didn't seem damaged and the product was really fluffy. is a cast iron skillet ok? are these really my only options?
