I have a hypothesis that our 'ego' is entirely a result of out memories. Our memories are what distinguish us from identical clones of ourselves, which is why they would be different people. If you have a memory of something, that's what makes it feel like it's you. If your memory was entirely wiped, you wouldn't have a sense of self; your nature would be more like a machine. Thoughts?
