Increased competition among individuals is an interesting concept. However, a future that has defeated aging is most likely close to post-scarcity. I would see no reason why individuals in such a society would need to compete. Reproduction could be stopped by banning therapies to repair the germ line from aging. Still, even though immortality may be unreasonable on long enough time-scales, we should fight for every year possible and not give up before the challenges even arise.
