SO I have a masters degree in engineering, I consider doing a PhD but I talked to a professor who I know who told me he needs 100% commitment, basically I need to happily do what ever he wants me to do. That the PhD needs to be the goal, not the problem or my interest in it.

I couldn't commit to this so I didn't do it with him.

I have serious doubts on how many other people can honestly say they will give 100% commitment to something they have little experience working on or being happy being the wage slave to a professor.

Am I wrong? In retrospect I assume people lie about their interest and leave if they dislike it but I don't like lieing.
