>>11761279The orignal idea was to make it usable for a orbit retry device for an air force ship for the sole purpose of getting some of that sweet sweet MIC/miltary budget funding to cover costs of the project. Which didnt even work because the air force pulled out in the last planning stages leaving NASA with a design they never really wanted .
Not that it really changed the military nature of the project in the end, half the space shuttle missions are classified.
A lot of people dont realize the Shuttle is basically a simi-truck design. The flight crew ares is 100% in the front, the back is just a truck bed, which was mostly used to put satellites in orbit that we didn't want anyone else looking at
