lead isnt a sudden thing. not many things back in the day slowly effected you. if you ate a poisonous plant either you would die relativity soon or get horribly sick. lead is a slow killer definitely with the not really great amounts it was in the water. lead was just so easy to get our world is filled with it kind of sad its poisonous. if it was not poisonous we'd be living in a better world.

Slow death from leadpipes was better than quick death from diarrhea, besdies the pipes were for the most part safe all things considered, they couldn't realistically measure the amount of lead in the water, the effects were so slow you couldn't notice and the system was so good lead is still used in some pipes especially in america.
