if u were to leave earth in a straight line, youd continue to orbit the sun, and as your distance increased and the sun's gravity diminishes by the inverse square of that distance, your sun-relative velocity would change, but it would never be 0 unless something happened to make it so. but no friction In a vacuum, so u keep truckin about the sun
