Biochemist here. I realized my area of study is garbage for employment. My GPA is also 2.5. Should I do a masters in bioinformatics and will that save me?
If there's a sufficient drastic need for more bioinformaticians then I should be good?
After all it's a subset of computer science.

The more specialized you get, the more valueable you are...in one specific position at a handful of companies. Say you work for years at that somoany, if that company then goes down, you're useless to anyone else because they require a different skillset and it's far cheaper and long lasting to train a young college student than to pay and train someone with decades of work experience. Now, you could get extremely lucky and find a job with almost the same position in a few weeks, but you'd more likely be unemployed for a few months, years even. Funnily enough, you won't even be able to work as a burger flipper in the meantime because you'll be too old, and for many other jobs, you'd be overqualified (would be too expensive to pay you, even if you accept lower pay, you'd feel unjust and the compamy can't afford that either). Unless you plan on starting a business (for which you don't need a degree btw), trades with generslized knowledge and skills is the way to go. It's a long time before robots will be able to replace plumbers.

I Wanna study economy informatics and plan to make my own consulting company afterwards. There a degree is good as a reason for retard customers who care about it. I don't get the majority of people who wanna be a bitch for someone else who can just as easily go bankrupt at any point in time for the better part of 45 years anyways.

Pretty sure the field is flooded. About ten years ago Tim O'Reilly got a serious hard-on for bioinformatics. His company put out a bunch of books and training materials on it. He blogged and did many talks about how it was the next big thing. As a result, lots of IT folks jumped on the bioinformatics bandwagon but the required number of jobs to employ them all never appeared. They started undercutting each other in terms of salary to get hired. As a result, they're now low paid difficult to get jobs.

they segregate the kids after 4 years elementary school in 3 skill levels. only with a degree from the first tier school you can study something.

now i have to do a 1 year school after my apprenticeship to become college worthy.

It's not about high paying jobs, lots of people that get a degree don't work in their field. And it's a fact that if you have a highly specific degree, you only have a few big cities to live in and 'imkted job opportunities. You won't (easily, if at all) find a bioinformatics position in a small town (which is more often cheaper to live in). Plumbers etc. won't get replaced because it's a very complex job that seems simple to humans. So it gives you job security in pretty much any town in multiple countries. It really is just about what you want. The whole notion that everyone has to have a degree is pointless.
In my home country, people graduate with sometimes multiple degrees and can't find any job without connections, they're happy if they get to flip burgers. Ofc those that can, leave the country, but many don't have enough money to do so nor a means to earn it.
All of that aside, if you have a high paying job that you don't like and spend money on dumb things like a big house a car etc, the hedonic treadmill will get you and you'll find yourself without a purpose in life. Don't know about you, but I'd rather live a more modest life and be happy than live in a city where a parking space costs the same as a house in a smaller town and be miserable.

And I'm in neither category, I'll never willingly go to college.
