>>11754579Depends on what they do with their MD. I've seen a few MDs go do post-docs, then get tenure-track faculty jobs at med schools. Never practiced medicine. So, yeah, I'd consider them scientists. From my experience, most MDs in research still did residencies, but then went into research as PIs in academia or industry, more heavy on the translational research here. (The guys who did medical school --> post-doc seemingly went straight up basic science. Props.) On the other hand, I wouldn't consider most MDs who see patients scientists, as much as clinicians. Take this with a grain of salt, I'm a basic science PhD in translational research.
