In an investigative endeavour, we use a methodology to find facts and truths. A methodology consists of three things: a proposition, an injunction and a community.
The proposition is the claim to be investigated. Is it raining outside?
The injunction is the method whereby the community proposes to investigate the proposition. Go to the window and look to see whether it is raining outside.
The community consists of those who have practised the injunction and offer its results. They tend to keep a knowledge base.

Proposition: are there extraterrestrials visiting Earth?
Injuction: make yourself available to be visited; make your location and intentions apprehensible to them; attempt to synchronize with the spectra of which they are aware.
