Yeah but what if it's the case that Japanese live longer on average than people of other ethnicities because of other underlying reasons (that affect height among various other things)? Do short people live longer when accounted for race, biological sex and nutrition, for instance?

i also recall centenarians having healthy bmis (in the 20s range), so malnutrition probably isn't a likely factor.

All this tells is what the particular characteristics of centenarians are. That the various stated factors in a particular combination are indicators of longevity tells you nothing about how much a role height plays independently on lifespan.
