Probably because breakthroughs in physics now require heavily specialized machinery, shit tons of resources, and lots of money. We know some stuff about biology, but mechanics of many things inside the body elude us. Biology is ripe for growth in understanding, we have a lot to learn and even moreso if we desire to control and synthesize it.
