Imagine if you lived in a 2d world and someone asked you what 3d is, they answered it's the same as our world just stretched through time. Sure, it's kind of correct but there's no reason to distinguish one direction in 3d as time. If you try to rotate a 3d cube in the 3d space, the time metaphor completely breaks down: how do you rotate something through time?
