everyone knows they’re fucked, they just get paid a lot to make up bullshit. The first thing I learned about psychology etc when I almost started that track like 12 years ago was “btw most of these studies are bullshit and data is manipulated and variables hidden for money and fame.” It was also the example used by everyone who ever taught me statistics for bad studies and how to manipulate data.

That’s why I didn’t go into it. It’s a money racket, it could easily be cleaned up but like “nutritionists” of the 20th century there’s no interest in it because you can kiss your money goodbye! It’s not like physics where it’s immediately practicable so falsifying data is easy to expose. Combine that with the fact that it makes people feel smug and confirms their biases and it’s a cesspool. I’m still genuinely interested in it and I’d love to see it fixed but I’m not wasting my life swimming up stream in a sewer.
