Not really man. Work is easy as shit, so you get lots of free time and it's easy to freelance. Not a fulfilling career but you can use that free time to travel n shit.

Every functioning society needs all four of those to thrive. They also let you specialize because they're so generic. An aerospace engineer is stuck in one industry and if you find out you hate it good luck. A mechanical engineer can work on anything that has physical parts (everything). If you really want to specialize into something like aerospace get a bachelor's in mechanical and then your masters in aerospace

this'd be great if mechE wasn't the most oversaturated entry level engineering fields with not enough job growth to handle the new grads. Seriously, they're still having recruiters sell old stats on employability, but the fact is that most engineering grads go into fields of finance and software than their own engineering fields just the lack of availability.

So yes, engineering students have employability, but funnily enough it's for other fields they typically try and shit on

if you don't have at least 3 years of experience now there's no way you can get a job if you don't have any connections because of oversaturation
just look at all these bloggers complaining about sending out 1000s of resumees and not getting a single call
anyone can learn programming in a week

As a chemical engineer the only remote work I ever didwas low paid freelancer software dev during gradschool. Now I'm researcher raking a good salary while working from home, but that's due to the coro meme.7

Second poster here, but would also like to comment that yes software and data is here to stay.

Also a lot of the high paid jobs are reserved for engineers with a special skill, but there is high paid low skill paths too.

I don't know about NASA, but they asked me to apply to a 6 month position to an Antarctic base once. Even if I got it I don't think I would've gone. Only do it if you don't have any relationships etc.
