>>11724630The system that declares heresy is the enemy.
Any idea must stand on it’s own merit.
First it was Catholic doctrine, then it was human rights with antiracism etc, now is emerging environmentalism with recycling etc.
The supreme heresy of human rights was holocaust denial.
The supreme heresy of environmentalism is anthropogenic climate change denial.
The goal of the accusation of heresy is to silence criticism.
You think that the holocaust obfuscates the rampant antisemitism of Europeans before the war, the evil of the USSR, the positive aspects of nationalist welfare? You must be a denier! You probably believe it never happened and wish it had happened!
You think recycling is a scam? You think that limiting fossil fuel use hurts poor people and poor countries the most? You think we understate the benefits of technical progress and overstate the ill effects?
You must be a climate change denier! You probably laugh at poor children with lung cancer!
Catholic doctrine should stand to scrutiny or be replaced by something better. Eastern Christianity, of which I am, emphasizes a more personal relationship with God and a less ardent obsession with the Virgin Mary, self-whipping, chastity etc.
Maybe this leads to great genius like Newton, but the East has it’s fair share of original discovery and insight, my personal favorite example being Mendeleev.
Protestantism let Germany, the US, the UK be great. Catholics are antisemitic too. Like the Catholic right is dull and fascist.
