1. I would say corporate secrecy is increasing as a function of intellectual complexity, in that systems and discoveries are becoming too complex to steal easily (it spans many different research efforts and positions) and too complex to protect with patents/IPs (it's better to keep things under wraps, than broadcast a potential avenue to your competitors).
Things like semiconductor manufacturing concern me greatly, in that there is little public domain knowledge surrounding normal techniques. If there were some kind of disaster, that knowledge could very easily disappear. And our society is rooted on this technology. We could easily see a great reversal, and even collapse, of civilisation.
2. Yep. Two main problems in my opinion: the genetic side; dumber people breed more. The availability of contraception coupled with the lack of any immediate threat and generous welfare, has led to a situation where it is more advantageous to have little foresight and poor planning.
The other side is social media. Most people don't have the cognitive bandwidth to concentrate on single tasks or problems with the information overflow necessary to engage with modern society. Before, people would be presented with fewer concepts and ideas for their minds' to process. Now you can browse reddit and be hit with 100 different articles, topics, hobbies, pictures- it turns midwits into zombies with very little focus.
3. If you're referring to self referential subject matter; in the middle rather than the fringe; becoming greater in proportion; then I would agree. With each extra node of complexity, there is more to index and intertwine.
