Pic related. I just rewatched Ergo Proxy and it hit me how strikingly similar the red haired character "Quinn" was to real red haired women of that type I've met. Likewise in women with black hair, blue eyes, paler skin, often a pointed or slightly upturned nose. People with brown hair and green eyes as well.

these archetypes exist for a reason. You don't even need to get into genetics. It's superficially obvious. Now the question of race is actually political, ie, concerning the daily life of man, and how people should run their lives. Should race play into society and its institutions strongly? I don't know, I would think not. I imagine a more racially and culturally homogeneous society would reach greater heights and may be more stable, yet clearly, ti's net weaker and therefore rapidly subsumed.

This statement disproves your argument.
Race, 'African-American' in your sentence, is an abstract social construct. The real, material, thing is the genetic subgroup you are referencing in the second half of this sentence fragment.

You are conflating the two. Races are not real because they are arbitrary collections of genetic subgroups (which are real). Pointing out that genetic subgroups are real has never been an argument to prove race, yet people too stupid to understand the distinction continue to repeat it.

You can look for things in race too, categories of things exist because it can be easier to sort and deal with information when you group things into them. But such groupings can only ever be used to help you analyze things and find what the truth of the actual real subgroups are.

For example, if a specific group of humans was immune to some disease or another, it would lower the racial average of that disease among the race society has deemed that group belongs to. This could then lead to the perception that members of that race have an inherent increased resistance of that disease.
