There are no good paying jobs with chemistry anymore. The best you can hope for is 70,000 at most, and this is after 10 years of experience with possibly a PhD. Doctors and Pharmacists and Nurses make more money, yet aren't required to take quantum mechanics or linear algebra.

There are no jobs, it's not actually useful on its own, and the entire industry is being automated.
