What happens if you cut a magnet in half but instead of cutting through it you stop Half way? Or if you stop almost all the way through and leave a wafer thin section still connected?

The diagram is a bit misleading. The smaller pieces don't become smaller versions of the big magnet just because they've been cut but rather when they're separated by enough distance to stop the north and south charges cancelling out.

Poles of a magnet is just our simplification to see what direction the magnetic field is turned
When you cut a magnet the magnetic field will be forced through the gap nonetheless, there is no special difference between putting two magnets codirectionally in series and cutting a magnet almost all the way through, youll just have a very slightly bigger curve on the field jumping thought the gap in case of no bridght than in the case of bridge, and whole magnet will not have any special curve at all

There are different kinds of superconductors which respond differently to magnetic field
You should read on magnetic responce of materials, there are a lot of different ways, maybe youll find something you want
