Absolutely not. One of the most important traits for any doctor, ESPECIALLY a surgeon is being personable. Only good surgeons I know have an obsession with their work too, how well they perform, etc. If you have no hobbies it's also a bad choice.

Nobody is going to want surgery from an autist that just comes in and says "yeah, l-let's get this over with haha you might die!!" While looking at the floor. You also need to work and communicate with everyone else. It's a team effort. Autists should stick to programming

Going to have to disagree there. One of the best neurosurgeons I've heard patients talk about literally does not give a single fuck about interacting with patients beyond explaining what he's going to do and follow-up to make sure he didn't fuck anything up. If you had to choose between someone whose unskilled but personable or a perfectionist turbo-autist poking around inside your skull I think most people would choose the latter. Based off of what I've seen on rotations I'd imagine most staff probably prefers that type of person to work with than the stereotypical primadonna surgeon as well.

You could also try pathology, or just do a post-doc after your MD and go into research?

You pretty much have to be on the spectrum to make a viable surgeon. Normies don't have nearly enough self control and different stress reaction, so any sign of failure can be catastrophic, as they lose the ability to make fine movements.

Surgeons are a lot more unsociable than the general practitioner and others. In fact you are likely to get told that exactly as a surgeon you shouldn't make connections with people that much, for your own personal sanity.
