Then again cheaper nuclear powered freighter ships might be pretty neat for the economy and the environment and the only country desperately trying to export nuclear tech seems to be Russia. But given Russias track record of cutting corners i would stock up on iodine pills while working on one.

That's some bad economics. Why would a country invest in a infrastructure such as a port that rely on a power source that the owner could just set sail without notice.

A substation to receive power from a nuclear ship is not an enormous investment. The thermal output is a little harder. Ideally the ship would be more efficient than this one, or it could use the heat in onboard equipment to desalinate water or produce hydrocarbon fuels.
Yes, this makes little objective sense. In a more perfect world, you'd only use these to deploy emergency energy to a disaster or whatever. But the current political nature of nuclear power makes it a terrible stationary plant investment.

The use case I described is more for western countries. Russia likely has some other reasons for wanting this, but they could use it to sell energy to other countries if they wanted to.

it's still a valid unit imo, you just divide it by 24 to make it per hour again. helps you calculate power bills. like if I had 2 1080tis folding at home using a combined 500w for an hour is half a kilowatt hour times 24 is 12 kilowatt hours in a day costing 6.5 cents apiece equals like $.80 or so per day. The kilowatt hours per day figure is the useful one.
