Emergence of civilization was enabled by the patriachy (a system where the fathers control the "sexual market" so to say) which encouraged men to focus on social contribution rather than violent competition for reproduction.
We are currently going back to the early human levels of sexual selection, the only reason society is still rather functional today is the cultural inertia but it's changing fast (fertility and singlehood is surging, same for male sexlessness).
From this point there is either:
1) a soft civlizational collapse followed by a radical comeback to hyperpatriachal systems
2) a technological change enabling men to reproduce without women (artificial wombs)
