>>11702583Thank you for longpost.
I wasnt clear, so here are a few clarifications.
>Genetic modificationAbsolutely, this is a given. I wasn't inolying we would somehow breed lankier and lankier humans lol.
I also understand the limitations excessive tallness has on the body, especially the cardiovascular system.
The point of a truly eugenic would be progress without compromise. By understanding the root cause of these flaws, we can work around and prevent them. This might translate to engineering larger, stronger organs, more suited for the bodies that they inhabit.
A perfect example of this (with a bit of context):
German Shepards are some of the best work dogs -- they are strong, smart, and of good stature, however, the major problem with many German Shepards is their hips, which often fail with age. Dog breeders are currently attempting to tackle this problem using gene-modification, rather than simply relying on artificial selection.
However I accept your statement here;
>Now as a sexual selection factor it is redundant as most people get more then enough nutrients to achieve their max height naturally. Sexual selection for height is now decoupled from traits that, previously, allowed for such height to be gained. Meaning that the genetic drivers are not useful as an indicator (such as the wing colour and immune function one you referenced).>Therefore selection since industrialization for height is no longer correlated with increased fitness in other areas.Sure, it would be purely aesthetic in that case.
