Creature reproduces sexually. Random tiny mutations happen once in a while during this duplication. These mutations can help or harm the ancestors of said creature. Evolution favors these benefiting mutations, this happens over millions of years. Boom humans. Some adapted slightly to different environments etc creating negligible facial and pigmentation differences.
