Suppose that the USA had no lockdown and that even the most left wing states agreed to let COVID become endemic and wait for herd immunity, with around 8% of Boomers dying, 3% of Gen X dying and 1% of Gen Y/Gen Z dying across the whole country. Economically this would be pretty bad but how long would it take if that was the route taken? Would it be over by now?
