I spilt a fair bit of petrol over my lawn mower while re-fuelling, but decided to mow the lawn ,immediately after, with it anyway.
I could smell the petrol vapour throughout mowing the lawn and to minimise inhalation I would do my best to breathe into the wind when it came away from the spilt petrol or else breathe behind my back.
I took a break after 15-30 minutes for around half an hour as I began to become rather concerned about the smell and so waited for the spilt petrol to evaporate off the body of the lawn-mower.
During this rest I felt 'shorter' and became slightly dis-orientated when walking down the stairs while looking at a cream wall. I was also noticeably thirstier.
When I returned to finish off the lawn after the petrol had fully dissipated from the area, I noticed that petrol was continually oozing from the fuel cap (the lawn mower is on its last legs) and after a short period I encountered the smell again, however I'm pretty sure this session lasted no more than 15 minutes, so any exposure should be far more limited.
After the second session, I did feel rather dis-orientated again but not as I did during the rest.
I did some googling on the effects of petrol inhalation and I can't say what I found was particularly relevant to my case, and so was wondering if anyone with a grasp of this topic would be able to indicate whether I've suffered any lasting damage?
