Fluoride

Fluoridation of the water supply seems like a legitimate issue that needs more discussion and attention.
>People are dumb and don't brush their teeth; they will get dental problems more easily.
This is the reason for continuing the practice. However, do the benefits outweigh the potential harms? Is it ethical to continue flouridation when evidence of harms has been found in multiple studies?
A review of the benefits of water flouridation can be found here:

Studies and a review linking water flouridation to thyroid problems, flouride poisoning, and more detrimental effects to a small percentage of the population can be found here:

My opinion: enough research has been done to warrant a recommendation to discontinue the addition of flouride to the water supply. The benefits are significant, but not enough to warrant an acceptance of the harms. Flouride is only beneficial to the teeth when topically applied anyways!; ingestion is only detrimental (or in small quantities, inconsequential). At the very least, more studies should be done on the topic and they should be fast-tracked in the interest of public health.
