Couldn t i just go with their prescribed order? Why would i need baby rudin beforehand? I am asking because i am through spivak calc and hubbards multivariable one, finishing on hoffman and kunze rigorous alg and going through ODEs. I want to go next with fourier book > complex book > measure theory book > functional, all of theese by the stein and hard to spell nip.
I am quite clunky with complex numbers though but i think c analysis course will force some more familiarity either way and i do not want to waste too much time. The concepts in theese 4 are my goal def though.

You should not read these books in the prescribed order. Especially the stein series - they are not meant to be read linearly like that.

Literally pick any Dover textbook on complex analysis and do some of the exercises and get a feel for the subject. Then ask a professor to read with so they can guide you and give you motivation that isn’t written in books. The book lists in this sub are all given by people who have accomplished nothing
