Given the amount of misinformation there is out there, are science communicators contributing more to society than actual scientists?

For example, this guy puts out informative videos on a regular basis -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D5S7hnevI1s and it's very easy for the average person to understand.

Why does /sci/ look down on science communicators?
