Does anyone else have trouble sitting still and focusing on a lecture/speaker for a long time? Like its a little bit better if i'm writing something at the same time, but if I have to sit completely still and just watch or listen my legs get very restless and I start glancing around looking for stuff in the room and tapping on my desk, repositioning myself in my seat for no reason, pulling out my phone and mindlessly swiping it open and closed without actually doing anything on it, its awful. I was never really able to sit still and pay attention as a child, but I did lessons that involved interacting a lot better, was able to learn from 1-on-1 tutoring for instance or even doing assignments in the workbook while reading the concepts at the same time or shortly after reading the concept.
When i'm outside, walking around, working on a cabinet in my workshop or even just standing up I don't get this compulsive need to move around or get bored quickly at all. Its only when I have to sit still in a chair passively absorbing information.
To anyone who has had experience with this kind of thing: am I doomed to a physical occupation or do you think I can make it through college and become an engineer?
