How do we re-open the critical period of learning so adults can learn perfect pitch or second languages at a native level?

There was that study which showed adults who took valproic acid were able to identify pitches better, even months after the study.

THAT WAS A BREAKTHROUGH, but it went NOWHERE! What the hell?

Why did valproic acid even work? Is there another way to induce critical period-like learning in the brain?
