>>11678627The town I grew up in had tons of museums. Science, natural history, air and space, art, and history. On top of that we had virgin old growth forest, the great lakes, and appalachia all pretty close to us so we spent a lot of time outdoors. Being a kid poking around for bugs and cleaning fish makes you interested in biology and botany because you've got working knowledge.
My grandmother was also a retired teacher, among other things, so as the oldest grandchild she made it her project to turn me into an avid reader.
I'm not the smartest guy but I like to think it sparked a curiosity in me to just enjoy learning about whatever random shit I come across.
