There are definitely inefficiencies. Let's just take a recent example. Warren Buffett dumped a bunch of airline stocks, causing the volatility to go through the roof. When stuff like this happens, option pricing gets thrown out of wack and you can just pick them up, hedge off the risk, and wait for the pricing to go back to normal. I don't do much individual stocks though, as in outright buying or selling them. I prefer ETFs and indices and I use options.
