>>11673828penrose had this really neat idea about entropy and the sun, I doubt it's true but it was really fascinating. basically the sun's rays hit the earth, but the earth isn't getting hotter right, because it's emitting heat in the form of really low frequency light back out into the universe. so the earth object is absorbing lots of different frequencies of light and emitting mainly really low frequencies, which actually by definition causes entropy to decrease. the idea is this decreasing entropy pocket then allows things like life, that this is the main contribution to life from the sun, not "energy" as we commonly think.
the leap from decreasing entropy to developing life is probably bullshit, but it stuck with me nonetheless
