If only the rich can afford the treatment for the foreseeable future, then we will have an immortal oligarchy, that will control the shape of the things to come. The good thing would be that such elite would take priotrize sustainability over short term profit, they could amass endless experiences/specifications and would try to safeguard their lifes from any threats, like societal collapse or cutthroat politics. If eternity is at hand, you don't want to waste it. Bad thing would be a total stratification of society, your boss will never be replaced, new ideas would have a harder time to get through but it wouldn't be impossible.
If its readily avaible under a million bucks or so, it would be similiar as above but stratification would occur in a lesser degree. Things like retirement are a thing of the past of course, work will never end. Overpopulation would definitely cause an issue but as one technology does not come alone I think that by a stage in which we develop methods for human immortality, many forms of transhumanism, space industrialisation and fusion power will be avaible. And by then overpopulation don't have to worry us too much. As long as your are willing to go to space in a cyborg or digital state.

The elites will want it, there is money to be made by selling it, society can benefit from never having to lose a taxpayer. Only religious, green or esoteric types will be against it, atleast in a open usage of it. Being against a possible wealth disparity never seen on this planet is a sensible thing to do. There will be religious, green and esoteric terror against that sort of technology and they will go after all sort of transhumanist and space advancements
