is neurology/psychiatry scientific?

In my experience, and according to what i've seen, freudian/lacanian psychoanalisis is by far the best way to treat mental illnes, if by treatment we understand reducing unecesary suffering and not just making people work like cogs in a machine no matter how shitty they feel. But if there's one thing psychoanalisis is not is scientific and it kinda never claimed to be. its closer to poetry/literature/sociology, a conception about the human condition used to heal.

But on the other side neurology/psychiatry claims to be based on science. While they do make studies and papers, when it comes down to treatment, theyre just the same, they are just applying their (extremely shitty, facist, and sadistic) world view.

Like, ok allegedly they claim mental illnes come from chemical inbalances in the brain.

ok,
nice

any way to measure it?

like, i have never EVER seen a psychiatrist measure the brain of someone to see the chemicals in it. Its all done post-mortem and with statistics which is EXTREMELY iffy.

So do psychiatrist have any REAL and SCIENTIFIC way of determining that a specific person has a specific chemical balance?

it just looks like they look at behaviours they like and dont like and apply pills aproximately thinking of their effects.

Also, if you apply statistics those pills have a low rate of success and extremely fucked up side effects
