After graduating undergrad (BA in math) I realized I wanted to work in healthcare. So I started nursing school, next year I will have an associates. Then I plan to get a bachelors of nursing. After working for a few years I think I will be able to decide whether to pursue an advanced career in nursing or medical school. I've been thinking this over recently, the more I learn studying and practicing nursing, the more I think the role of the physician is better for me.
Conservatively, I might expect to enter medical school ~30. 29 is not to old to begin the process I think. If medicine is your passion, and considering the earning potential of physicians, the only barrier should be whether you can handle medical school, not how old you are. At this point you can start taking prerequisites to see if you enjoy the material, I'd also recommedn shadowing physicians and volunteering at hospitals to see if the environment and work is for you. Not everyone is cut out for healthcare, in any role.
