All complex animals have either patriarchs or matriarchs that dominate and lead the rest of the group. Animals accept this hierarchy because it benefits the whole group.

In the other hand, human societies are almost all patriarchal. Its just our natural state. it doesn't matter how many people fight it and try to artificially make society egalitarian. In the end both sexes deep down know their role. Both sexes feel uncomfortable when they are doing the role of the opposite sex. Look at the new liberated women in the last 2 decades. They have high education and high paying jobs. But they still look for men that are in a higher hierarchy. They seek men with higher salaries because they are biologically predisposed to do so. They want to be dominated figuratively speaking.
