Depends on what mental health issues you have and how weed effects you.
I have known people that used weed very successfully to help with anxiety and I have seen it make others paranoid.

I was told it triggers schizophrenia in people susceptible to schizophrenia but I don't know how true that is because I haven't seen any scientific studies supporting that and I wouldn't read them if they were given to me anyways. I'm not even sure what schizophrenia is.

it defintely can help with anxiety, as least it does for me. If you get used to smoking weed, it calms you down, just like cigarettes etc does. But i dont think it cures any illness and it can trigger psychosis if you smoke too much.
so yes, it can be a help but so can balsam or meditation. it depends on you what tool you use
