smol chance but I was wondering because of the iron deposits if it could possibly be a meteorite but I'm not really a rock guy myself and I don't want to ask my geologist friend what if it is in case that makes me look retarded

I've dredged for gold a few times, you see a lot of rocks something like that: a kind of substrate with other bits of gravel and whatnot embedded in it. In my completely uninformed opinion, there was a flood, a bunch of sand and gravel mixture settled out and then the whole region got subducted or buried somehow and the mixture was compressed into a cohesive rock, and then it was unburied and exposed to flowing water which wore away the substrate a little faster than the embedded gravel. Usually the examples I see have rounded river gravel in them, not sharp jagged chunks like yours.

doesnt appear to be one. if it was, it would have a "fusion crust", so the outside would be black and cracked. otherwise, you can take a magnet and test it. if the rock attracts to the magnet, there's a better chance. in that same vein, cut off a chunk of it and look inside. if it has small freckles of shiny metal, that's a meteorite. meteorites contain a good amount of nickel and iron. however, though rare, some meteorites can be made out of just rock and no metal. even rarer, you may encounter a lunar or matrian meteorite.
