MD here, BSc in Math.
Medical School is highly overrated in terms of pure subject difficulty.
I had tons of oral and practical exams that can fuck you up mentally. And the volume of things to read in a short span of time is quite high.
It's a resilience test more than intelligence per se.

I sincerely cannot answer that because I love basic science. If you're in that mood - "just want to a be a physician, why do I need this shit" and find chemistry/biochem/biophys/neurobiology/cell biology a pain in the ass ( I've had a lot of colleagues who hated it - the majority I can add), then Yes.
But again I do love my MAP kinase cascades.
