Sex is the evolution equivalent of "god-of-the-gaps". Any gap we have in our current understanding can be handwaved by scientists as "sexual selection". I do it all the time when I argue with normies about evolution, so not like I'm not guilty too

Because the point of evolution is to literally propagate through reproduction and then to maximize the propagation. Once you're unfit of reproducing, which happens around the 50s, your body suddenly degrades as if you're completely unneeded and that's because no selection process exists for anything past that age since that cannot be passed down to other generations through reproduction - living to your 100s has exactly 0 benefit to your offspring, a hindrance even because you eat their calories without outputting back the deficit. So judging by that it's not a far stretch to claim that reproduction is the central theme of evolution.

trick question, not everything has to have a evolutionary purpose because there are other ways, other than natural selection, for characteristic to evolve. If I have high fitness but for some reason I have a useless characteristic associated with others that confer me an advantage does it have a purpose? I would say no.

there can be no "evolutionary purpose" for suicide via lack of sex because the genes would be not passed along. if the genes are not passed along then there's no selection towards or away from it because it fully doesn't exist in the gene pool. suicide is not a logical thing, there is no "evolutionary purpose" for it.

you're relating two unrelated events. if anything the lack of a person would harm the survivorship of the children because there won't be any family to watch over the children while the parents are busy. one of the major theories for why humans evolved sociality at all is for childcare.
