Is there a doctor in the house? No, maybe a medical student or someone who's seen every episode of House MD?
For the purpose of fiction i need a condition and corresponding treatment that falls into the following scenario
Two or more people in a semi isolated area, one keels over of a acute medical issue, a call for the ambulance is made but there 20 minutes out and the condition needs to be diagnosed and treated or he patient will die.
Has to be something only a skilled doctor or surgeon could spot and treat, bonus points for minimal or improvised medical supplies.
I vaguely recall a movie seen where a guy treated a collapsed chest wall and resulting hypoxia by running a fish hook through a rib and attaching it to fishing line , the tension allowed the lung to inflate, but id rather not rip that off if possible.
