How far away are we from brain implants that allows us to process data and information drastically faster (for example upload some gigantic novels to your brain and have them read in minutes or seconds, and not hours, days or weeks, or complete a B.A., M.A. and PhD in literature in mere days or weeks)?

Yes, AI connected to your brain can conclude to do actions, that would be like phd work.

The real question is if your brain is required for that, because I highly doubt that, if you want implants to do phd for you, you possibly wouldn't handle all the info it's about and doesn't know that much in minimised time.

Wouldn't it be better you just make computer do it without requiring you and make compoter learns that to you instead of getting implant which will be like...

Well, it must have signal in... Which is... It causes many technical problems in both infrastructures, your brains, or even implants network.

You know, one of the best things about reading a book is being able to go through it page by page. Especially if it's a story book or a novel, nothing beats spending the evening or the day reading a solid story. It's basically a form of meditation.

So why would you want it instantly uploaded to your brain? Does not just kill all the fun out of reading? Unless we're talking about manuals, textbooks, and being able to instantly learn a skill or a language, which still doesn't make sense since most people learn through experience and memory.
