I always read up about how ancient civilizatios fucked up the scientific method in ways like using leeches during the plague or èrforming sacrifices to imanginary gods because they thought that would make it rain.
But I'm wondering, is the opposite also true? Are there any examples of ancient civilizations that (maybe by pure luck/trial and error) learned how to perform a very complex medical or chemical procedure with an uncanny similarlity to how we do it nowadays?
