Got this ad on YouTube yesterday. Apparently nootropic energy drinks are now a thing.
Any medfags or someone who has exeprience with nootropics can explain what this shit is?

I think nootropics are an interesting topic, but also caffeine, nicotine, and ritalin are nootropics, which makes me doubt their overall benefit.

Those are the only three elements that I know that have been quoted as having nootropic properties on the literature of which, sugar no shit, salvia officinallis(says sage which can be Salvia lavandulaefolia too but wathever, let's supose it's officinallis) it's suposedly yes but more for people with alzheimer than you, L-theanine will relax you more than actually improve your cognition.

Look, from what little I have studied the only plants and agents worthwhile are

>Panax ginseng(yes and no, and more no than anything else)
>Gingko biloba(yes and no, and again more no than yes)
>Bacopa monnieri
>Hypericum perforatum(not more than 250mg of the two active principles invovled, after that its counterproductive)
>Rhodiola rosea
>Cafeine
>Sugar

And from the studies that I have seen have been done far more with mice or rats and turns out that nootropics have far more effect in people with low-IQ or some kind of mental disorder(Alzheimer) than normal people.

I'm obsessed with all sorts of cognitive enhancement and I've been taking almost every single nootropic out there for a long time, over 2 years. None of them have a perceivable effect if that's what you want.

Yeah, moldafinil, racetams and Methylphenidate but I did not want to add those because I did not investigate synthetic nootropic agents, since after all, we would have to include many illegal ones that do increase things like attention and focus but if you have a job that does surprise drug tests is not a good idea.

First we'd have to agree on the definition of a nootropic or a group of substances classified as nootropics, because I'm not sure if you count stuff like modafinil as nootropic, you probably shouldn't, it's basically ritalin.
In my experience no nootropics noticeably help with focus or alertness and I really have tried them all. There are only two nootropic substances which do help sustain high mental effort for longer, those are L-tyrosine and creatine.

Given that definition, most prescription stimulants (adderall, ritalin, modafinil) definitely do improve focus and alertness. Wouldn't recommend you take them long term though, you're definitely gonna regret it in the long term.

The process of obtaining energy in your body in muscles is very similar to that of brain, they both use ATP to produce and transfer energy and creatine lets your body make more free ATP, making energy transfer easier and letting you work for longer before ATP is exhausted. But as I said this only applies when you're under a lot of effort for long time.

You need many things to produce energy, among them glucose and ATP. Your body generally has a significant amount of stored glucose in the form of glycogen, when you need glucose your body just releases it from the glycogen stores. The stores can last you pretty long, much much longer than the ATP you can make. When you go for a sprint and you get tired after a minute, that's because ATP is exhausted, not the glycogen. You can do the same sprint 200 more times and your glycogen stores will probably still have enough. ATP is the limiting factor.
