I'm convinced it has to do with the way Asian languages work, specifically Chinese and Japanese. If you're forced to learn that shit from early age, memorizing literally thousands of unique characters and their absurd number of combinations and possible ways they can be read then you're going to get good at correlating data that abides by certain specific, if sometimes counter intuitive rules.
