Hey, math novice here that's trying to self-educate.
Was wondering something.
I know 0.999... = 1 I'm not disputing that at all.
But if that's the case then 0.999.../2 should equal 0.5 right?
So my question is how does an infinite number become a finite one, what causes that infinity to collapse?
Probably just missing something but I'd like to learn what that is if it's the case
