it's just in the past 200-400 years the West started gaining the upper hand massively, before that, not so much
overall other civilizations like India and China were more productive

Might be because a country/civilisation got quick progress in a certain area but then stagnates.

This progress get adopted by another civilisation which then get improved upon until the former repeats.

Other factors to consider, political/religios influences, supply of food, population numbers, healthcare, etc.

You give people a lot of resources and only small limitations on what they can do. And a lot of progress will be made.

That is why the renaissance had such a big impact. Brake the rules, try out new ideas.

You have a strong beleaf of status quo, religion + authority of the state. You can not go against any of the two or the punishment is life long prison or execution of yourself and/or your family.

The only reason why china is an exeption is that they have a leadership that is extremly focused on technological progress. While at the same time they get a lot of ressources from other countries who produce there.

So you'r two basic things needed for progress are permited. (in some way or another)

the number 0 is the basis of real analysis and linear algebra, and pretty much of all higher math. almost all proofs in abstract algebra boil down to showing something is 0 or NOT 0
other than that the ancient greeks couldn't come up with it, the romans couldn't come up with it and everything was massively limited
the delimiting factor is the invention of the number 0 by hindus
and it took like 300+ years for europeans to understand what the number 0 was

The principal point is that the notion of an mathematical "revolution" in Europe, that was solely the product of unlikely circumstances (the conflux of mathematical ideas from different cultures for example) does no good in explaining what actually occured. It even insults those very same mathematicians. It didn't take long once Calculus was discovered for it to spread not only across Europe but also even to Japan, China or India by means of entrepreneurs or missionaries. What did these cultures do with a new mathematical framework? Quite clearly little to nothing. You can find some Japanese mathematicians from the 18th century that clearly must have worked with calculus but that's all. The Indians only entered mathematics once British education has been established by the British administration in India and I'm not aware of any single "modern" Chinese mathematician during the Qing era. Therefore the idea that the Indians or Japanese could have come up with all the mathematics just as well as Euler or LaGrange is clearly false. I don't go any further into explaining the reasons why Asian people were hindered from doing mathematics. Cultural, political, biological reasons?

Why would I call mathematically unproductive people subhuman? Poets, writers, builders etc. are clearly just as important and India has lots of them.

Accident, pure luck, self reinforcing cycles? The renaissance sparked the investigation into all these things such as science and math. This led led to the age of enlightenment which made even more advances into that kind of stuff and son on and so forth

Still 0 is just a number. The ancient greeks had already come up with limits and integration by the time of Archemedes. This makes the question more interesting since from the time when romans conquered them and untill the 1400s there was little progress. Is it possible that big empires slow down progress, while smaller states encourage it? I know that at that time span west europeans were acting like niggers (and being raided by germans, goths, vikings, slavs, etc) while greeks were larping as romans, but china and india were for the most part very large empires and had small contributions at any given time. I wouldn't be surprised if most indian mathematicians came from smaller indian states.

Math is standardized on a global scale now. This was not the case for the majority of Humanity.
Any ancient Chinese mathematical manuscripts not destroyed by politics are only a part of what was a greater system of mathematics, that developed seperately from (and has little to do with) what we know today.

Give people freedom of speech, and some of them will speak the truth. Muslim world enjoyed this for a couple hundred years, Greeks had it for the rich. India and the middle east have had more problems with religion (the west had this too, but overcame it in the renaissance).
China was too scattered to develop a proper learning environment, e.g. a lot of Chinese discoveries would have gotten lost.
Africa, Australia and America were maybe too harsh of an environment, and they never united to form a proper society.

If it hadn't been for monasteries and monks none of the wisdom of the old world would have survived. It was only the pursuit of literacy fueled by the clergy that enabled Europe to read, educate and propagate knowledge. Add to that theology with its roots in philosophy which helped establish a rich tradition of academic thought and knowledge generation. All of this already would have been enough for Europe to win but then you had some other non-cultural reasons which only helped make the difference even bigger: a continent rich with ressources and constant warfare. All that made western-christian culture objectively superior.

First universities were actually created in the Muslim worlds and the European universities were modeled after them. Also it was the Muslims that saved the old Greek works which was then taken up by the Yuroos to develop further.

Small states and autonomy gives best results in terms of cultural, scientific and civil progress.
